Overview
The AdLeS Instructor Portal allows course leads and lecturers to configure adaptive quiz pathways, monitor real-time class analytics, and manage student interventions.
This guide outlines how to manage module release schedules, interpret student diagnostic data, and assist learners who have triggered a session termination lock.
1. Module Configuration & Release Settings
Instructors can adjust release windows and adaptive thresholds prior to or during the semester via the AdLeS Faculty Portal.
Release Schedule Matrix
| Setting | Function | Recommended Default |
| Start & End Dates | Sets the hard availability window for specific quiz parts. | Align with weekly study schedule dates. |
| Termination Limit | Number of consecutive incorrect attempts on a core concept before locking the quiz. | 3 consecutive failures. |
| Hint Delay | Time required before a student can reveal diagnostic hints. | 15–30 seconds to encourage initial attempt. |
| Canvas Grade Weight | Total percentage weight transferred to the Canvas Gradebook upon completion. | Defined per course syllabus specification. |
2. Managing Student Interventions (Unlocking Quizzes)
When a learner reaches the Termination State by hitting the maximum threshold of incorrect attempts, AdLeS locks their session to prevent blind guessing and directs them to contact their lecturer.

Steps to Unlock a Student Session:
- Log into the AdLeS Faculty Portal and navigate to your assigned course/section.
- Select Pending Interventions from the main dashboard navigation.
- Click on the student’s name to view their Diagnostic Log (this displays which concepts triggered consecutive errors).
- (Optional) Send brief targeted feedback or additional reading references directly through the portal note feature.
- Click “Reset Question” (to allow one retry on the current item) or “Reactivate Module” (to restore access to the entire quiz path).
3. Class Analytics & Learning Gap Identification
The portal aggregates real-time data across all enrolled sections, making it easier to tailor upcoming face-to-face or virtual seminar discussions.
- Cohort Difficulty Heatmap: Highlights specific question clusters where class-wide accuracy drops below 60%.
- Remedial Resource Usage: Shows how many students actively clicked on supplementary reading materials during quiz attempts versus those who relied on trial and error.
- Completion Status Export: Generates CSV exports of student progress for internal record-keeping or manual Canvas grade reconciliation.
